POST = California Commission on Peace Officer Standards and Training

POST sets selection and training standards for California law enforcement. VoltVerified’s 40-hour POST-certified course is for law enforcement personnel only and prepares graduates to deliver V2RT rider training in their communities.

More than a train-the-trainer.

V2RT instructors complete extensive, specialized preparation—not a brief orientation.

  • Law enforcement experienceOfficers and deputies bring firsthand knowledge of traffic safety, rider behavior and eBike laws.
  • Five days of instructor preparationThe course covers the knowledge, riding skills, evaluation standards and teaching methods needed to deliver V2RT.
Why law enforcement delivery matters

Who teaches the course is the difference.

POST-certified law enforcement instructors bring firsthand knowledge of eBike laws, unsafe riding and crash consequences into the course. Their preparation helps turn that experience into effective rider education.

The curriculum is also informed by prosecutors, injury-prevention specialists and pediatric trauma professionals who see the consequences of unsafe riding firsthand.

Education-first approach

Education as a diversion option, when appropriate.

Because law enforcement agencies enforce these laws, V2RT can support local diversion programs that allow riders to complete meaningful education instead of simply paying a fine. Riders learn the law, demonstrate competency and are held accountable for safer decisions.

One curriculum, delivered locally.

Every instructor is prepared to deliver the same model: classroom education, hands-on riding skills and competency assessment, adapted to local agency and community needs.

Participating agencies deliver training independently and remain responsible for how it is conducted locally.
