Two parts.
Both required.

What POST means

The California Commission on Peace Officer Standards and Training—the state commission that sets selection and training standards for California law enforcement.

More than a train-the-trainer.

V2RT instructors complete extensive, specialized preparation—not a brief orientation.

  • Law enforcement instructorsOfficers and deputies with real-world knowledge of traffic safety, rider behavior and eBike laws.
  • POST-certified instructor trainingFive days covering the knowledge, skills and methods needed to deliver V2RT effectively.

Shaped by the people who see the consequences.

VoltVerified works with law enforcement, prosecutors, injury-prevention specialists and pediatric trauma professionals who see the results of unsafe eBike riding firsthand. Their experience shapes what V2RT teaches and emphasizes.

One curriculum, delivered locally.

Every instructor is trained to deliver the same structured model—classroom education, hands-on riding skills and competency assessment—with room to adapt delivery to local agency and community needs.

Participating agencies deliver training independently and remain responsible for how it is conducted locally.

Resources that keep delivery consistent.

Certified instructors receive exclusive access to the VoltVerified Instructor App for current guidance, course resources, operational tools and support.

Education-first approach

Education can change behavior.

Meaningful rider education in place of a fine, when appropriate

Because law enforcement agencies enforce these laws, V2RT can support local diversion programs that give riders the opportunity to complete meaningful education instead of simply paying a fine.

VoltVerified believes many unsafe riding behaviors can be corrected through education, competency and accountability. Riders should understand the law, recognize the real risks and demonstrate safer decision-making.

The goal is not simply to stop someone from riding. It is to help them become a safer rider.

VoltVerified rider credential

Training completed. Status verified.

Riders who successfully complete the required course components can receive a VoltVerified rider credential. Its QR code gives schools and participating agencies a simple way to confirm that the training credential is active.

  • Issued after classroom education, the written assessment and hands-on rider competency are successfully completed
  • Confirms current credential status without displaying the rider’s identity
  • Shows whether the training credential is active—not ownership, registration or licensing
  • Provides a straightforward accountability tool for participating programs

Why law enforcement delivery matters

Who teaches the course is the difference.

VoltVerified training is not taught by someone who simply knows how to ride an eBike. It is delivered by POST-certified law enforcement instructors who understand the law, see unsafe riding and its consequences firsthand, and are prepared to turn that experience into effective rider education.
